Las Vegas, NV — Shoes for Scholars will hold its first annual Smarts’n Strides 5K Run and Walk on Saturday, September 20, 2025. The event will raise funds to support student scholarships and academic resources in Clark County. It is presented by The 702 Firm.
The 5K is open to runners, walkers, families, and anyone who wants to help local students succeed. All proceeds go to Shoes for Scholars programs that provide school supplies, scholarships, and direct support for students facing financial barriers.
This is not a race for elite runners. It is a community run and walk. People of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to register. You can walk with your kids, and jog with your neighbors. You can show up in a group or come on your own. The goal is to move forward together and help students do the same.
Helping Students Where It Counts
Shoes for Scholars works with students who are doing their best in hard situations. Many cannot afford the basic supplies that school requires. Others need financial help to stay on track for graduation. Some need encouragement and structure, and some need a little relief from the constant stress of not having enough.
The organization gives out backpacks, notebooks, and school kits. It also provides scholarships for college and career training. Most importantly, it helps students feel seen and supported.

Participants will receive a race shirt and medal. Music and refreshments will be available at the finish line. Families and spectators are welcome.
